2/22/2021 – Our drive-up window will open Monday, March 1 however our lobby will remain closed to the public. While our drive-up window was closed, the third-party convenience fee was temporarily waived.  Effective March 1, all credit/debit card and e-check payments will incur the $3.95 third-party convenience fee.  Please note, as a regulated utility, we are not permitted to recover the convenience fee because this would affect our customers who choose not to pay with credit/debit card.  The convenience fee is the vendor’s fee and Wellsboro Electric does not benefit from the fee.

 There are other ways to pay without having to incur the convenience fee. We accept online bill payments from your bank.  Just set us up as a bill payee and the bank does the rest. We do not charge to receive online bill payments from your bank.  We offer an auto pay option where the amount of your bill is deducted from your bank account on the due date.  There is no fee to enroll in auto pay and you still receive your bill statement.  You can enroll in auto pay through SmartHub.  As always, we accept payments by mail and the payment drop box at our office.

12/23/2020 – High volumes in online orders, an increase with coronavirus cases and weather have delayed the delivery of your utility bill by usps.com. We are being told the delay can be anywhere from 2-4 weeks before your paper bill arrives. A means of getting around these delays is to sign up for SmartHub and receive your bill and other information electronically. If you need your account balance, call us at 570-724-3516 or register as a SmartHub user. SmartHub allows you to receive email notifications when your bill is ready, view your billing and payment history or report an outage. To register for SmartHub, click on the SmartHub icon then click on the sign up to access our Self-Service site hyperlink. You will need your account number to register. For more information, contact our office 570-724-3516. Our lobby and drive-up window remain closed to the public. If you want to drop off your payment at our office, you may leave your payment in the payment drop box on the side of the building.      

 

10/01/2020 – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) revised the adjustment in the TCJA Surcharge.  The TCJA Surcharge was reduced from 1.4% to 1.2% therefore, the surcharge percentage that took effect on October 1, 2020 was 1.2%.   The TCJA will be applied to the distribution costs on our bill.  It does not apply to your charges for generation supply or to your charges under Rider CCS. 

On July 1, 2018, Wellsboro implemented a distribution rate decrease at the PUC’s request to reflect the estimated impact on the Company’s federal tax payments under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA).  Under the PUC’s requirements, Wellsboro must compare the estimated impact that was used to calculate the rate decrease to the actual change in federal taxes that the Company experienced.  The TCJA Surcharge is implemented to reconcile the PUC’s estimated tax impact with the Company’s actual federal tax change under the TCJA for the period from January 1, 2018 through April 30, 2020.
